Introduction: The Lincoln County Lodgers Association is a long-standing organization with a mandate to communicate on issues effecting lodging within Lincoln County on behalf of its members.
Meetings: Biannual physical meetings will be called by the executive.
Monthly virtual meetings will be conducted via this page.
The LCLA will report on the actions of local, state and national politicians and report back to the membership on how these people relate to and support tourism in general and the lodging community in Lincoln County specifically. These politicians will be subjected to a rating system, as our most effective tool is our power to vote for those who understand the importance of tourism and against those who continue to support agendas contrary to that which we know to be best for our areas economy. The membership is encouraged to offer their feedback to this site in order to compel those in positions of power to remain aware of our concerns and desires.
The LCLA will monitor the expenditures of Lodgers Tax Dollars and report back to the membership on those things that are seen as successful and those that are thought to be waste. The Lodgers Tax Committee will attend meetings to insure the voice of the LCLA is heard on issues felt to be important to the membership. Your feedback in this area is critical to moving forward as a County in attracting more tourism revenue.

LCLA ACTIVITIES
The LCLA is currently working with Grizzlys Bear Carvers and the Make a Wish Foundation in holding the 2005 Ruidoso Great Bear Carving Safari.
This event is an expansion of Grizzlys annual charity event, which draws professional and amateur carvers from around the country. If you attended last years event you can see that this is a growing attraction. This year, with our involvement, we plan to expand the event to include more carves, larger prizes and an interactive event involving lodgers. Next year we are working on adding another major event to complement the carving contest.
More to come on all of this soon.
A note from Chuck Duncan:
As the new president of the LCLA, I have been approached by several Lodgers with concerns with some members of the current Council and Mayor Eggleston. I am going to make a real effort to remain objective in my role, however, I must admit to having a growing concern for some of the decisions that are being made. I promise to keep a very close eye on the goings on and would like to hear from all members as they have concerns with local Government. Water issues are a real sore point with most folks as are issues concerning expenditures of Lodgers Tax dollars on marginal tourism items and the automatic allocation of funding to Grindstone Graphics without any apparent consideration to the recent parameters developed in the professionally facilitated Advertising Workshop. The Lodgers Tax Advertising Sub Committee has played a very important role in improving our marketing, asking contractors to demonstrate accountability and getting proactive on critical issues like fires and good snow. However, I was asked to resign my chair on this committee as too many members were associated in the Go West Marketing LLC, which developed www.goruidoso.com. We will be very interested in seeing if Mayor Eggleston appoints anyone to replace me (and with whom) or, if this is just the first step in disbanding this important and effective but perceived politically as a disruptive body. Task forces and their recommendations seem to end up in the circular file too often and, with the latest gross receipt numbers showing flat growth, I remain concerned over the ready acceptance of the status quo by this administration. C. Duncan
